Singer, Songwriter, Music teacher, Musician
Brittany Brant Music Centre
I’ve always had a passion for music, and singing in particular, since a very young age. My Mom plays piano, my Dad plays guitar, and both love to sing. They noticed when I was very young that I loved singing, and always encouraged me to follow my dreams and nurture my love for music.
I chose music as it feels the most natural way for me to express myself, and that is where my talent lies. Through music and song-writing, it allows me to tell stories and connect with people. I love teaching music, inspiring creativity in our youth and giving them an outlet, and a way to boost their confidence!
As a child, I took piano and voice lessons. In 2006, I began my post secondary education in music at Mohawk College in Hamilton in the Jazz Performance Program. I graduated in 2009 with a 3 year diploma. Later in 2009, I was accepted into the University of Toronto Jazz Performance program, and was able to transfer into the second year of the program. I completed my studies at U of T in 2012 and graduated with a Bachelor of Music.
I am inspired to continue with music as a career because of the wonderful people in my life. I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to teach many youth and adults in the area. They inspire me every day. My husband is also a musician, and his passion for music keeps my love for music alive. My parents and sisters have also continuously supported my career, and have always encouraged me to continue with music. I have an amazing support system and am very grateful to have such great students and family in my life. All of these supporters have allowed me to make music my career.
If I could give advice to someone pursuing a career in music, it would be to do it because you love it. Use your gift to inspire others, and try to make an impact with your art and talents.
